Carolyn See , January 13, 1934 - July 13, 2016) is a professor of English at the University of California, Los Angeles, and author of ten books, including memoirs, Dreaming: Luck and Good Times in America , a book on writing advice, Making Lives of Life , and novels There Will Never Be Another You, Golden Days, and The Handyman. See earned an associate degree from Los Angeles City College. During his second year at City college he married Richard See and moved with him to Newfoundland where he was mobbed for the Korean War. When they return to L.A., see attending and obtaining a M.A. from California State University, Los Angeles and gave birth to his first daughter, Lisa See. See winning Samuel Goldwyn's Creative Writing Contest in 1958 for his unpublished novel The Waiting Game and using a reward of two hundred and fifty dollars to pay for his divorce from Richard See. After his divorce, See married Tom Sturak and has his second daughter, Clara Sturak. See then finish her doctoral degree at UCLA and her dissertation is in a Hollywood novel.
