Chandler's Ford (originally The Ford and historically Chandlersford and known during the Second World War as Das Ford ) is partial large residential areas and civilian parishes in the Borough of Eastleigh in Hampshire, England, with a population of 21,436 in the 2011 UK Census.
Ford Chandler is located in the old Winchester to Southampton road and 'Ford' is thought to refer to the Monks Brook ranks on Hursley Road (shown on the Hunderley 1588 map as "Charnells foord") or on Winchester-Southampton street. The prefix "Chandler" was added at the end of the 16th century, and is derived from the surname, Chaundler , from a family in the area from the 14th century.
The headquarters of Draper Tools, B & amp; Q, Selwood and Ahmad Tea are located in Chandler's Ford. Draper Tools recently announced that it plans to move to Test Valley where they are currently building a new complex.

Histori
Hiltonbury Farm (now a public house) appears on the map 1588 and probably originally owned by the Hursley Park Estate in the adjacent Hursley. It was then sold to Cranbury Park Estate and ceased to be a working farm in the late 1970s, when the surrounding area was developed. Other communities revolved around other farms in the area but Ford Chandler was very rare inhabitants until the 19th century.
In 1889, an iron church and several schools were built. The Chandlersford civil parish was created in 1897, from parts of North Stoneham, North Baddesley, and Ampfield, although the railway station remained in the North Badadesley parish.
Chandler's Ford was once a city with lots of housing, but now there are a variety of store and school developments that have been built in the area. In the 1920s, the building took place at King's Court, Merdon and Hiltingbury. Later, construction in the Hursley Road area occurred, followed by housing in the Hiltingbury, Scantabout, Peverells Road, Spring Hill and Oakmount areas. Recently, developments in North Millers Dale, South Millers Dale and Valley Park's 'new town' west of Chandler's Ford have completed a mix of housing. Ford Chandler is regarded as a development to the West M3 toll road and now forms the majority of Eastleigh urban areas.
Due to the city's development, there are few 'downtown' that can be identified. The main commercial center is in Fryern, the Halfway Inn area (near the old toll for Winchester-Southampton), but other small shopping areas include the Central Precinct and the area around St Boniface Church (built 1904). An Anglican church was added in Hiltingbury in the 1960s, with the Roman Catholic Church of St. Edward the Confessor and Methodist church on the main route Winchester-Southampton.
Despite most residential areas, Chandler's Ford has a significant industrial estate located outside School Lane and between B3043 - Bournemouth Road. Companies in industrial estates now cover a wide range of industries from light engineering and manufacturing, distribution, retail and outsourcing. A number of entrepreneurs on the plantations are of particular local interest. Peter Green Furnishers was once considered the largest furniture and carpet store in all of Hampshire. Selwood has also been another interesting company since 1946 and with its headquarters at the corner of School Lane.
Chandler's Ford was represented by Compton and Chandler's Ford Cricket Club formed in 1995 when Chandler's Ford Cricket Club (CC) merged with Compton and Shawford CC.
Chandler's Ford railway station reopened in May 2003, has been closed since 1969. It has now been operating hourly by the South Western Railway, from Romsey to Salisbury via Ford Chandler, Eastleigh and Southampton stopping at all stations between the two.
A suspected 'haunted' phone box once stood in front of Hendy Ford's showroom. It is featured on the DVD "Haunted Hampshire", with renowned historian Richard Felix. The phone box was removed after a number of reported phone cases kept ringing and those who responded to the call found themselves hearing the silence at the other end.
