First generation (J100, 1997-2006)
The first generation is available as a five-door estate, and the smaller kei car model is called Terios Kid , which is only released in Japan (see Terios Kid Japanese article). The model code for the first generation is J100, J102, and J122. Terios Kid arrived in October 1998 and continued to be built six years after the original Terios was replaced.
In 2000, Daihatsu gave Terios a light facelift both in the exterior and interior of the vehicle. A new chrome grille replaces the black plastic grille. High-quality models get electric front windows, central locking, rear seat headrests, alloy wheels, roof rails and rear spoiler mounted on the roof. Mechanically, the 1.3-liter SOHC four-cylinder engine mounted on the previous model has been replaced by a new 1.3-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine. Power also increased by 3 kW (4 hp). The sport version of the K3-VET engine is produced in Japan.
In Australia, the limited edition sports series was introduced in 2001 with only 200 units available. The vehicle has a body color matching bumper, different from the two-tone bumper color on the standard model. Rear spoiler and sunroof become standard. The interior is updated with a metallic coating of paint on the center console and dashboard.
This is the first Daihatsu assembled in Venezuela, where production began in November 2001.

Generasi kedua (J200/F700 ; 2006-2017)
In Europe, South America and most other Asian markets, this new model is sold under the name Terios. Daihatsu designs and manufactures Terios and also supplies vehicles to Toyota under an OEM/consignment manufacturing agreement.
The second generation known as the Daihatsu D-Compact 4x4 Concept appeared in November 2005 at the Tokyo Motor Show before being named the new Daihatsu Terios, which began production in January 2006. Model codes are J200, J210, and J211 for 5- seater versions; code model F700 and F710 for 7 seat version.

Market
Japanese
For the Japanese market, the first generation Terios was replaced by Daihatsu Be? Go ( Japanese: ???? ??? , Daihatsu B? Go ) and Toyota Rush ( ja "> Japanese: ?????? , Toyota Rasshu ) . Daihatsu Be? Go and Toyota Rush discontinued in the Japanese market in March 2016 without a direct replacement model, but Toyota in Japan has released Toyota C-HR in December 2016 as the actual successor of the Toyota Rush.
Both use a 1.3 liter engine or 1.5 liters. Only the 1.5 liter version is available with two or four wheel drive.
The Terios features a permanent 4WD system through a lockable central differential. However, it has no low gear ratio.
A minor facelift from Daihatsu Be-Go and Toyota Rush was unveiled on November 13, 2008 in Japan. The minor facelift carries a new front bumper, new tail lights, new wheels design for G trim and a 5% increase for fuel economy for 2WD auto models.
Indonesia
In December 2006, Toyota and Daihatsu in Indonesia launched the second generation of Rush and Terios which have longer wheelbase. However, the car is only equipped with rear-wheel drive. Daihatsu Terios and Toyota Rush are only available with long wheelbase in Indonesia. The difference between Rush and Terios: Rush is designed for five people only, and Terios is designed for seven people, so Rush does not have third row seats (although third row seats are available as dealer options). Both cars have different rims, with seven wheels ordered from the JDM version of the Toyota Rush installed in Daihatsu Terios and five-wheeled cars from the Daihatsu Terios European market installed at Toyota Rush.
In Indonesia, the second generation Daihatsu Terios comes with three trim levels: X, X Extra, R, and R Adventure. The X and X Extra have a near-seamless asymmetry in addition to parking sensors, wheel hubs, and automatic transmissions. While Daihatsu Terios R has a striking difference even from previous versions and facelift, such as body kit design (R Adventure) and wheel arches, bespoke wheels, spoiler as standard (previously optional) and satnav with dual din DVD player stereo, camera rear parking and HDMI input. The first generation Toyota Rush initially came with two trim levels: G and S. Trim S then replaced by TRD Sportivo variant in 2013.
In March 2015, the Daihatsu Terios and the upgraded Toyota Rush have been unveiled. The facelift model carries a new projector lamp with LED position lights, a wider grille with a chrome bottom bar, full air intake for the lower bumper and the dark center. For the interior, both the Daihatsu Terios and the Toyota Rush receive a new steering wheel design, redesigned instrument cluster, new seat upholstery, modified second-row headrests, and dual DIN touch screen DVD head units at higher trim levels. The trim finish is finished in black gloss for Daihatsu Terios and silver for Toyota Rush.
In February 2016, TRD Sportivo Ultimo variant of Toyota Rush was launched, and TRD Sportivo 7 variant has been updated.
Malaysia
In Malaysia, the second generation Daihastu Terios is available as Toyota Rush (2008 to 2017) and Perodua Nautica (2008 - 2009).
Toyota Rush
The Toyota Rush was launched in Malaysia in January 2008 with two variants: 1.5G (M/T & amp; A/T) and 1.5S (A/T only). Toyota Rush in Malaysia is a 7-seater long wheelbase version.
For 2011, Toyota is updating the Toyota Rush in Malaysia by offering two of the same variants: 1.5G (M/T & amp; A/T) and 1.5S (A/T only) with updates.
In April 2015, Toyota introduced a Toyota Rush facelift, very similar to Daihatsu Terios and Toyota Rush in Indonesia. Exterior changes include a redesigned front bumper, radiator grille and bonnet. The bumper finishes in a two-tone effect and the grille is finished with imitation carbon fiber. Elsewhere, there's an integrated new chrome layer feature that crosses the headlamp and radiator grille, the refracted taillights that feature a combination of LEDs with smoke lenses. Again, the same two variants are available: 1.5G (M/T & amp; A/T) and 1.5S (A/T only). 1.5S has additional equipment including fog lights, chrome cover for wing mirrors, and leather steering wheel and gear knob.
Perodua Nautica
Perodua, Daihatsu's local partner in Malaysia launched a short wheelbase version of Daihatsu Terios. Sold as Perodua Nautica , was launched in Malaysia in May 2008. It is fully imported from Japan, except for the front grille, front bumper and rear bumper manufactured and installed in Malaysia. It has a 1.5 liter DVVT engine, full-time 4WD, projector headlamps, 5-seat with dark interior. The Perodua Nautica price tag is not much different from the Toyota Rush that has a long wheelbase. It comes with only two color choices: (Medallion Gray and Majestic Black) and comes in an automatic transmission only. Nautica was quietly discontinued in 2009, slightly less than a year after its launch. Only as many as 489 units have ever been sold. The reason for the termination was that as a national car company focused on local manufacturing, Perodua was unable to obtain sufficient necessary permits for vehicle imports, as Nautica was imported in CBU form from Japan.
