A stairclimber is a type of trolley mounted with a wheel or spinning track so it can be pushed or pulled up or down stairs or stairs. Stairclimbers can be manual or battery powered, and are commonly found in wheels, tracks, push arm or walker variants.
Powerful electric ladder climbers are available in many variants, both in manufacture and mechanical operation, with the most common being the push arm and walker variants due to size, speed and mobility. Tracked versions offer the greatest POW (safe work limits) with regard to loads being moved, while push arm and walker variants offer greater speed and ease of operation.

Stairclimber wheels can be fitted into hand trucks (sack trucks) and as the name implies, designed to help move items up or down stairs. This stairclimber type relies on a wheel configuration known as a three-star, three wheels arranged into a triangular configuration that replaces the standard wheels on both sides. The stairclimber wheel can sometimes be problematic when trying to turn on flat ground because four wheels in a fixed position will come into contact with the ground at any time unless a locking mechanism is built into the trolley.
This form of stair climbers is most commonly found in various non-electric manuals and is very common among courier drivers and for light deliveries.

Track the staircase
Staircase types traced are usually electrically powered, and can traverse the ladder mechanically with loads up to 1000 kg. The mechanical operation is identical to the Continuous Track type vehicle, this method of transportation is very strong and can negotiate the steep stairs and other awkward terrain, the disadvantages are size and weight, but like continuous track vehicles with independent track control they can spin in place by operating each tracks in the opposite direction. Many models are equipped with additional features of the hydraulic load balance that allow the load to remain upright when crossing the ladder. As this feature allows the movement of objects to be kept upright during transportation such as air conditioning units where refrigerant fluid can exit or damage the unit if it is not sealed.
Smaller tracking types are also available to move smaller weight ranges. These machines are also slower than push-arm and walker varieties but have the advantage of not overloading the operator. The contact load is full of stairs at all times and allows the operator to zero load while climbing the stairs.

The ladder walker type uses a long screw thread to extend and retract the 'legs' from the position where the load is held. Two moving plates allow the item to pull down any number of steps at a time. To date, the largest weight limit to be lifted by this method is 680 kg (quoted). Some models using this approach also use the third part to allow the load to be manipulated up and down independently of the base and the wheel.

Press arm type
The push arm type ladder driver has an arm mounted on the bottom of the truck that folds out and down, pushing on the step above and thus lifting the truck into the bow to rest on that step. Repetition of this movement allows trucks to climb stairs. The mechanical opposite of this movement allows the unit to move down the stairs, many units also use the front braking system only to stop the rolling ladder from rolling over the edge of the step. There are several important variants of this type.
