Training is teaching, or developing oneself or others, any skills and knowledge related to useful special competencies. Training has specific goals to improve one's ability, capacity, productivity, and performance. It forms the core of the internship and provides the backbone of content at the technology institute (also known as technical college or polytechnic). In addition to the basic training required for trade, employment or profession, labor market observers recognize in 2008 the need to continue training beyond the initial qualification: to maintain, improve and update skills throughout the working life. People in many professions and occupations may refer to such training as professional development

Physical training
Physical training concentrates on mechanistic goals: training programs in this area develop certain skills or muscles, often with a peaked view at a particular time. Some physical training programs focus on improving overall physical fitness.
In military use, training means gaining the physical ability to perform and survive in combat, and to learn many of the skills needed during wartime. This includes how to use various weapons, survival skills outside, and how to survive being captured by the enemy, among many others. See military education and training.
For psychological or physiological reasons, believers may find it helpful to choose to practice relaxation training, or autogenic training, in an effort to improve their ability to relax or deal with stress. While some research suggests relaxation training is useful for some medical conditions, autogenic training has limited results or has been the result of several studies.
Job training
Some commentators use the same term for learning in the workplace to improve performance: "training and development". There are also additional services available online for those who wish to receive training above and beyond what their employers offer. Some examples of these services include career counseling, skills assessment, and supportive services. One can usually categorize training such as on-the-job or off-the-job .
Workplace training methods take place under normal work situations, using actual tools, equipment, documents or materials that trainees will use when fully trained. Workplace training has a general reputation as the most effective for vocational work. This involves training employees at work when he does the actual work. Typically, a professional trainer (or sometimes an experienced employee) functions as a training instructor using direct training that is often supported by formal classroom training. Sometimes training can take place using web-based technology or video conferencing tools.
Simulation-based training is another method that uses technology to assist the development of trainees. It is very common in skills training that requires a very high level of practice, and on those that include significant responsibility for life and property. The advantage is that simulation training enables trainers to discover, learn, and correct skills shortages in their trainees in a controlled virtual environment. It also gives trainees the opportunity to experience and learn events that may rarely occur in the workplace, for example, in-flight emergencies, system failures, etc., where trainers can run a 'scenario' and learn how trainees react, thereby helping in improve his skills if the event happens in the real world. Examples of skills that typically include simulator training during the development phase include aircraft piloting, spacecraft, locomotives and ships, operating regional air/sector controls, power plant operations training, advanced military/defense system training, and advanced emergency response training.
Off-the-job training methods occur away from normal work situations - implying that employees are not counted as productive workers directly while the training is taking place. Off-the-job training methods also involve employee training in locations away from the actual work environment. Frequently using lectures, case studies, role plays, and simulations, has the advantage of allowing people to stay away from work and concentrate more closely on the training itself. This type of training proved to be more effective in instilling concepts and ideas. Many employer selection firms offer services that will help improve employee competency and change attitudes toward work. Internal personnel training topics may vary from effective problem-solving skills to leadership training.
- Newer developments in job training are On the Job Training Plan or OJT Plan. According to the United States Department of Home Affairs, the appropriate OJT plan should include: An overview of the subject to be discussed, the number of hours the training is expected to take, the expected completion date, and the method for which the training will be evaluated.
Religion and spirituality
In religious and spiritual use, training can refer to the purification of mind, heart, understanding and action to obtain various spiritual goals such as (for example) closeness with God or freedom from suffering. Consider for example the institutionalized spiritual training of the Threefold Training in Buddhism, Meditation in Hinduism or Christian discipleship. These aspects of training can be short-term or lifelong, depending on which training context and which religious groups are a part of it.

Instructor's Guide and Lesson Plans
Instructor Guide (IG), is an important document available to instructors. In particular, it is used in Lesson Plans, because the blueprint ensures the instruction is presented in the exact order and depth required by the goal. Objectives of the lesson plan:
- To ensure that the instructor has considered all the factors needed to do a safe and effective lesson.
- To guide you in your lesson activities.
- To help maintain constant checks on training activities and student progress.
- To Standardize instructions.
- To let the training manager know what is being taught.
Parish School
The Parish School is a fairly broad institution in the United States. Parish schools are primary or secondary schools that are supervised by religious organizations, especially Roman Catholic schools affiliated with parishes or holy orders. In 2004, out of some 50 million children enrolled in American primary schools, 4.2 million children attended church-affiliated schools, of which about 1 in 12 students. In Christianity, for example, one can attend a college affiliated with a church with a view to earning a degree in a field related to religious instruction. Some may also attend church-affiliated colleges in pursuit of non-religious degrees, and usually do so only to deepen their understanding of the particular religion associated with the school. The largest non-public school system in the United States, the Catholic school system, operates 5,744 primary schools and 1,206 secondary schools.
Artificial intelligence feedback
Researchers have developed training methods for artificial intelligence devices as well. Evolutionary algorithms, including genetic programming and other machine learning methods, use feedback systems based on "fitness functions" to allow computer programs to determine how well an entity performs a task. Methods build a series of programs, known as "population" programs, and then automatically test them for "fitness", observing how well they perform the task in question. The system automatically generates new programs based on the members of the population who are doing their best. This new member replaces the worst-performing program. This procedure is repeated until the achievement of optimal performance. In robotics, such systems can continue to run in real-time after initial training, allowing robots to adapt to new situations and changes in themselves, for example, due to wear or damage. The researchers also developed robots that could appear to mimic simple human behavior as a starting point for training.
