Watch Your Mouth is a novel by American author, Daniel Handler.
This story tells a college summer story filled with the protagonist Joseph who spent with his Jewish boyfriend Cynthia Glass in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Handler describes it as "opera in book form".

Plot
The first part of the novel is laid out as an opera, with acting numbers and scenes as chapter titles and each character is singing. Joseph quickly began to suspect that the entire Cynthian family was involved in incestuous behavior, and that his mother Mimi was building a golem in the basement. The first part of the novel ended (operationally) in death. The second part is presented somewhat more conventionally, when Joseph tries to recover from the events in the first part; half of this book follow the form of 12 step program. The first part of the novel is printed in black ink, while the 12-step program is printed in dark red.
