reinforcing bags are handmade bags used for shoplifting, usually from retail stores, libraries, and other locations that use security detectors to prevent theft. Booster bags can be ordinary shopping bags, backpacks, pocket clothes, or other uninteresting containers in which are coated with special materials, usually a double layer of aluminum foil.
Items are placed inside a booster bag (effectively the Faraday enclosure). This provides an electromagnetic shield, with the result that the electronic security tag inside the bag may not be detected by the security panel at the detector antenna at the shop exit.
Tas Booster has been used by professional shopkeepers for several years. After being tested using them, shoplifters can steal dozens of goods with little effort.
The name "booster bag" comes from "encouragement" in the sense of slang "shoplifting".
