Generasi pertama (2003-2006)
The first generation XB is a lightweight modified version and rebad version of the Japanese market Toyota bB. It is a small hatchback based on the Toyota Echo/Yaris platform. The xB is one of two models in the exclusive US-US Scion division lineup that was present at the 2003 launch of the brand, the other being the xA, based on Toyota ist.
First generation xB vs. bB first generation
Only the first generation model for both xB and bB are related. The second generation model is based on different platforms.
To create the first-generation xB, bB is modified from right-to-left drive, the front passenger area also changes significantly with the front bb seats being replaced with bucket seats and the shifter mounted on the column is converted to floor-mounted shifter.
The available drivetrains are also different. BB is available with a 1.3a engine, L I4 2NZ-FE or 1.5Ã, L 1NZ-FE, mated exclusively to 4-speed automatic transmission with all available wheel drive. XB is only available with 1NZ-FE that produces 108 hp (81 kW) and 105 lb? Ft (142Ã, N? M) in US specifications, but offers 4-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed manual transmission. All-wheel drive is not offered on xB.
BB Toyota is not equipped with spare tires. In Scion xB, the compact spare tire is stored under the left side of the raised rear cargo floor. Since the spare tire lifts the cargo floor a few inches, the storage is added to the right of the spare tire to retrieve some of the lost storage space. A jack is kept under the driver's seat in xB.
Toyota bB has a pull storage tray under a passenger seat that is not owned by xB.
BB went on sale in February 2000, while xB went on sale in June 2003 for the 2004 model year. First generation bB sales ended in December 2005, while the first generation xB sales ended in June 2007.
